My TBR pile – 15 Questions (and Answers)

I wanted to present a part of my huge TBR pile to you, so I came up with some questions about it, that I am going to answer here.

Feel free to copy these questions (or a part of them) to your own blog to answer them if you want to, but please credit me čÖé

Here we go:

  1. Number of books on your TBR pile
According to Goodreads, there are 114 books I own and still need to read. This is surely getting out of hand.
  2. Book that has been in your TBR for more than a year
More like five years, but okay. I chose “Ich w├╝nschte, ich k├Ânnte dich hassen” (eng. “Stolen”) by Lucy Christopher for this one. I really wanted to read this book when it came out, so I bought it immediately… and have not even started it ever since.
  3. Last book you added to your TBR
That would be “The smell of other people’s houses” by Bonnie-Sue Hitchcock. I want to read more contemporary books right now and this just sounded like it would be really atmospheric and deep. I really hope it will be.
  4. Shortest book on your TBR
That would be “Und der Himmel rot” by Gabi Kreslehner. It has 145 pages.
I bought it because I liked the title, but I am not actually sure whether I will like the book itself. It’s very short, though, so there is not much lost if I try, I guess.
  5. Longest book on your TBR
With 928 pages, it’s “Schl├╝ssel” (eng. “Key) by Mats Strandberg and Sara Elfgren. It’s the final book in the Engelsfors trilogy that I am currently reading, and it’s huge. I am not sure whether I have ever read a book that long before. At the very least, it’s the longest one I own.
  6. Last book in a series on your TBR
I could go with the previous one, but that would be no fun. Instead, I chose “Sad Love Story 5” by Ji-Sang Sin for this one. It’s the last volume of a manhwa I read when I was about twelve, and I only ever finished the first four volumes. I should really finish this series at one point, but it’s sooo sad… Who would have guessed?
  7. Popular book on your TBR
For this one, I chose “The Young Elites” by Marie Lu. I think it’s quite popular? I always wanted to read something by Marie Lu, and I fell in love with the description of this one. I hope it will be as good as it sounds.
  8. Unpopular book on your TBR
I am not sure which ones of my books are rather unpopular, but I guess “Die Nacht geh├Ârt den W├Âlfen” by Wulf Dorn counts. It’s a young adult crime novel with a scary cover and an interesting title, and by now I only remember that I really wanted it, but not what the story is actually about.
  9. Book on your TBR that you got for a really low price
I got “Die Seiten der Welt” by Kai Meyer as a used book in a sale at my local library. It’s a book about books, and I find these to be really interesting. It is also very pretty, so even if I end up not liking it, I can still just look at its cover, you know?
  10. Book on your TBR that was a present
My boyfriend got me “Die B├╝cherdiebin” (eng. “The Book Thief”) by Markus Zusak just yesterday as a very belated christmas present. I’ve been meaning to read this one for ages! So I’m very happy that I finally own it now čśÇ
  11. Book on your TBR that was recommended by a friend
A friend recommended “Sabriel” by Garth Nix to me about two years ago, and I when I found it in a sale, I just had to buy it.
  12. Book on your TBR that you wanted to have but changed your mind about
I once bought “Die Sch├╝ler des Mangameisters” (eng. “The Ink-Keeper’s Apprentice”) by Allen Say some years ago because of the manga-style cover, but I don’t think it will actually be my type of book. I am open for surprises, though.
  13. Book on your TBR of an unusual genre (for you)
I’d say this would be “The Song of Archilles”. I am not really into historical fiction, but this one just sounded great, and I’ve been meaning to try new things anyway.
  14. Book on your TBR you already know you will love
I have really high hopes for Victoria Schwab’s “Vicious”, and I am sure those hopes will be met. After the “Shades of Magic”-series and “This savage song” she became an auto-buy author for me, and the story of Vicious just sounds amazing. I am sure I will love it.
  15. Book you want to read next
I can’t say this for sure, but I would really love to get to “The Crown’s Game” by Evelyn Skye next. Though it is not as popular as some other books, I heard really great things about this one and can’t wait to read it! It just sounds amazing.

Of course, there are many more books I am really looking forward too, but listing all 114 of them would be just too much. Not to mention the books I still have on my wishlist…

Did you already read any of these? Did you like them?
And what’s on your TBR? I would love to know!

  1. I love this tag! My TBR’s a bit out of hand (although not as bad as yours, haha) at a little over 70 books. I read and enjoyed The Young Elites, so hopefully you like that one! I read A Darker Shade of Magic and loved that one, and I’ve been meaning to finish the series and read more by her! I loved The Book Thief as well. Bring tissues!
